Company Background

Emergent Data Centers was founded by data center industry veterans with the goal of developing next-generation infrastructure in high-growth secondary markets across the United States.

The company operates under the former name Skybox Data Centers in some older planning documents. All development commitments and agreements continue under the Emergent Data Centers brand.

Gen Two Technology

The SA1 project uses Gen Two closed-loop cooling technology — air-cooled chiller systems that do not use evaporative water. This eliminates the continuous municipal water consumption associated with traditional data centers.

The system requires an initial fill of 15,000–20,000 gallons (equivalent to a residential swimming pool) and consumes approximately the same as 5 residential households daily. Water circulates internally for approximately 5 years before replacement.
